Springlake Farms is a 20-acre farmstead in Phoenix, Maryland: five barns, three cottages, and a converted barn residence designed by the artist and jeweler Betty Cooke and her husband, Bill Steinmetz. Begun in 2007 and never fully finished, the residence sat empty through the last decade of Betty’s 100 years. It is being restored with care for its design legacy and the austere beauty of the countryside, and replanted as a native-focused food forest. The farm will host stays, retreats, production, and small farm and wellness events, all in support of its preservation.
Please stay in touch as the barns come back to life.
